Adriènne has been Chief Executive for the Office for Nuclear Regulation since January 2016, where she sees her role as to aligning and developing the whole organisation to deliver the best possible regulation. She works closely with Dr Richard Savage, who as Chief Nuclear Inspector, is accountable for ONR’s independent regulatory decision making.
She has worked in the private, voluntary and public sectors, with twenty years at Board level, where she has driven an agenda of customer focus, transparency, operational excellence and organisational development. and staff engagement. Most recently, she was Chief Executive of the Disclosure and Barring Service, which sought to protect children and vulnerable adults by barring individuals from working with them, and providing over four million criminal record checks a year. Prior to that she was Deputy Chief Executive at Hull City Council , leading unprecedented organisational change in response to significant budget cuts, and held a range of corporate and operational roles in large scale lottery funding.
Alongside these roles, she has held non-executive roles as Accounts Commissioner for Scotland, board member of the Scottish Consumer Council (where she was a member of their utilities committee) and external verifier for City and Guilds.
Adriènne is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, a Companion Member of the Chartered Management Institute, and a graduate of Oxford University’s Major Programme Leadership Academy.
